Right that is the normal way, cash.
Thanks for the tip on the credit union looking at it as a camp. I often get involved with clients wanting to buy and sell offgrid and that could be an option. One half of my family was from the Finger Lakes region. Still some there looking for where gramps buried all the cash.....  Good Luck!

     i have a few sevcon 48v 17A battery chargers for sale.  http://www.sevcon.com/media/46705/pfc_charger.pdf

I bought a group of them and will be using several with my offgrid setup.

i normally used my magnum inverters built in charger but there are times when i use heavy loads and the surges knock off my generator.

This way I can have my generator constantly charging independent of the inverter charger fluctuations.

online Documentation seems a little lite.

I have done some basic testing .

It does have some brains in it that throttle charging as batteries become more charged. it states it has a 4 stage charger algorithms

first connected charger slowly ramps up.  maybe takes a minute to get to full current operation.
    i had batteries charging at
    16.6-16.8amps @50.2v.
    15.2amps at 52.5volts
    14.8amps at 54volts
    14.4 amps at 55volts

    14 amps at 55.49volts
    13.2amps at 55.49volts
    11amps at 55.2volts
    10.6amps at 55.18volts
    10.2 amps at 55.18 volts
    9.8 amps at 55.18 volts
    9.4 amps at 55.19 volts
    8.8 amps at 55.18 volts

With the above stated results it looks like it wants to hold voltage to 55.18.  which seems like a decent value .

the charger has a substantial heatsink, and does not have vents or fans.  IN operation with charger sitting on the ground unit warmed about 25-30C over ambient.  I would imagine mounted vertically fins on heatsink would perform better.

unit comes with inline fuse, WITHOUT power cord.

one thing I did not check is power factor. I would suspect with the name "pfc charger" it may have good pf figures.  But it could also just be naming to mislead consumers.   I am currently away from the chargers so will be a few days unit I can check that out.

I am thinking maybe a good alternative to an iota charger.  it seems like sevcon is a reputable company.

Anyway looking for $120 per charger.
chargers are located in Utah near ogden

Sears DC Clamp meter is on sale!

Okay, I'll be honest I came to offer my slightly used DC Clamp meter for sale for $40 shipped in the lower US and gloat over the deal I got on a Fluke 376 meter new old stock, in box for $100 with a Fluke 179 and 1507 also new in box (though the 179 does have a calibration # date inscribed, but both still with plastic over the LCDs) for another $150! Today was Christmas for me!

So I looked up a link for the Sears meter to show a picture, and Sears has the inexpensive clamp meter on sale for $39.99, so I guess I'm keeping mine as a spare.
    http://www.sears.com/craftsman-digital-clamp-on-ammeter/p-03482369000P?redirectType=SKIP_LEVEL

I'm not planning on doing any checking of coils, so if anyone is interested in the Insulation Tester (Fluke 1507), I'd be glad to send pictures. Turns out his company, a Wind turbine maintenance company, purchased new meters for their guys each year. He just check the old against the new and set them on a shelf!
Home system 4000 watt (Evergreen) array standing, with 2 Midnite Classic Lites,  Midnite E-panel, Magnum MS4024, Prosine 1800(now backup) and Exeltech 1100(former backup...lol), 660 ah 24v Forklift battery(now 10 years old). Off grid for 20 years (if I include 8 months on a bicycle).
    - Assorted other systems, pieces and to many panels in the closet to not do more projects.

The magnum inverter is no longer for sale. Originally I wanted to sell it and buy a pae model so I could ac couple. No one responded till today. I already have 2 solar controlers  and the wire So decided I am going to bury the wire, use the solar controlers and this inverter. I just dreaded putting in the extra wire as it is about 280 or 290 feet from the controlers and batterys. So if one of the moderators want to delete this post After anyone gets a chance to read this I would appreciate it.

    All replace 2012 -1013 Either Deka Unigy II 95-33 or C&D Tech Liberty2000 27P
The C&D are nice in that they dont require the steel cases to be installed - All Float charged and maintained in temp controlled enviroment - no major charge downs - removal due to entire site decommissioning not being removed due to a failing cell somewhere in the string or anything like that.

Is the SW 4548 an "E" model, 230 volt, European?

2.1 Kw Suntech 175 mono, Classic 200, Trace SW 4024 ( 15 years old  but brand new out of sealed factory box Jan. 2015), Bogart Tri-metric,  460 Ah. 24 volt LiFePo4 battery bank. Plenty of Baja Sea of Cortez sunshine.

Selling for a widow who has to move back to civilization.

Good used Trace SW2512, that is a 12 volt unit.

Worked about 9 years then sat in a closet about 9 years.  Looks like new, it is in the original Trace box minus the packing material.  The owner was very meticulous.

PM me if interested, make an offer.
