  • Running an electric oven is a HUGE load for these batteries,  NiFe batteries have a high internal resistance, and the larger the load, the more power is wasted as internal self heating of the battery.   i have 5kw PV, and 800ah of batteries,  I can run a microwave for a couple minutes, but the voltage will crash.

Hi Mike, I have a place in southern Portugal and am running 4.5kw fixed pv with 400ah 48v NiFi batteries. I have had it up and running for about 1 year. There seems to be little information on these batteries, like SOC voltage and any other way to assess there condition. I am charging them at 66v full charge seems to be near 55v but voltage drops rapidly on discharge I have been told that 48v is around 80% SOC, I top them up every week with around 1 small cup of distilled water for each cell (40) I have tried not to over discharge them. Once running the electric oven they dropped down rapidly to 40v, I have no idea why. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great. If you have already written a thread about this please direct me to it. Thanks Ellis
