How many amps does your inverter use? You might look at a marine battery switch.

OK... 2000watt inverter, what voltage? or better what brand and model inverter?

    12 v 2000 Watt Continuous/4000 Watt Peak Power Inverter

    # 2000 watts continuous power
    # 4000 watts surge capability
    # Input voltage: 11-15VDC
    # Modified sine wave
    # Low voltage alarm protects your battery
    # Auto shutdown
    # Overvoltage shutoff at 15VDC
    # Triple fans for maximum cooling
    # Connector for PCB components

Do you mean switch or connector?

For a high current quick connector / dis-connector look at host site for Anderson connectors.

By my calculations, you will need something bigger than 350 amps and, that is the largest switch I know of.

    (2000 W (rated) / 80% full-power efficiency) / 11 Vdc min input voltage = 228 Adc. Including a 125% safety factor = 285 Adc.

Something like this 350 Adc switch should work.

Crewzer, this is ment as a polite question, I trying to learn, his inverter has a surge of 4000 watts, 2000 continous. When I said over 350amps, I had figured at 4000 watts. Would that not be the max?

Re: Quick Disconnected for battary bank

    That's a fair question!

The NEC 690.8(A)(4) calculation for determining Stand-Alone Inverter (Maximum) Input Circuit Current is the continuous input current rating when the inverter is producing rated power at the lowest input voltage. The calculation I provided earlier for sizing a DC-rated continuous duty circuit breaker is based on my interpretation of this Article.

Inverters can indeed produce higher than rated power, which would suggest an even higher input current. However, the surge current is usually short-lived, and it typically falls within the surge capability of a circuit breaker, fuse, or switch.

For example, the "350 Adc" switch I suggested is also rated to handle 600 Adc for 5 minutes, and 900 Adc for 9.75 seconds.

HTH, and don't be bashful about questions!

    Regards,

Thank you Jim, I wanted to know how you came to your figures now, I know. Bashful is not me, Tackles is more my style and I'm trying to modify that.

4000 watt is for the surge when u starer some thing up

it well not care that for long

2000watts is the max i can use out of this cheap inverted

So are these cool to use in a 48V system? Or will I need to find something more expensive/safe ?
