I can't get my gas chainsaws to run.

I have a downed standing dead the linemen left for me bout 350-400  feet  from my inverter.
I'd like to cut it up into small enough sections to haul up to the house and cut down further. I have several 100 foot cords. I think  currently 2-10 gauge and 3 - 12 gauge. I have 2 electric chainsaws of 12 and 14 amps  and even a limb/pole saw of 9  amps.

What is likely to happen if I try  to use them at 400 feet? More amps to make up for the voltage drop of 5-8%? Is it likely to  damage the saws? Suggestions?

Home system 4000 watt (Evergreen) array standing, with 2 Midnite Classic Lites,  Midnite E-panel, Magnum MS4024, Prosine 1800(now backup) and Exeltech 1100(former backup...lol), 660 ah 24v Forklift battery(now 10 years old). Off grid for 20 years (if I include 8 months on a bicycle).
- Assorted other systems, pieces and to many panels in the closet to not do more projects.

You may starve the saw for voltage, it will surely slow down, so you can't cut as fast.   But faster than by hand !
Just don't keep stalling the motor, ease up before stalling

Well  I run , 15amp worm drive framing saws on a 100’ 12 gage cord with grid power
It will run ok . More then 100’ feet it pops the 20 amp breaker in the house if it’s cold it will pop the breaker in the house .
If I keep pushing the saw it will burn up in side .
If I have to work a heavy tool I bring a generator to the work and use a 25’ cord .

Same experience with 100' of 12/3 with 14-16 amp tools. I use my little Honda 2000 generator past extension cord distances.

    Hello PW
Have you tried using starting fluid to get your chainsaw running.  What I would suggest is to drain your fuel tank, spray your carburetor clean with carb cleaner, then refill the saw with freshly made gas.  When you try to start, spray some SF into the intake.  After sitting for more than a year, that what it takes to get my saw running.

FWIW, I've also found clogged air intake filters tend to compound the problem.  Somehow them sitting for a bit seems to "mature" the gunk.

The best thing you can do is run hi test in your saws .
When you are done cutting , dump the fuel and run the saw out of gas .
My sthil saws are 20 years old and start on the first pull , the see a lot of use .

I use aviation gasoline  (or marine boat fuel) Neither has any ethanol.  Aviation gas also is stable for 1 year, all those planes sitting out on the tarmac for months at a time.

Saws should both have been, dumped and run dry, actually found little gas in one.  Best  friend is logger,  I buy  Ethanol  free   gas for him as he live 30 miles farther from the available gas station.

I don't have any starter fluid, and would use WD40  if I had any, they my have sat for 2+years now.

Thanks for the help,  if I try Sunday looks like possible day.  I'll let you know how it goes.
