For a 15000 but rv air conditioner. What are the starting and running watts or amps?

More than you want to try and power with solar.

2.1 Kw Suntech 175 mono, Classic 200, Trace SW 4024 ( 15 years old  but brand new out of sealed factory box Jan. 2015), Bogart Tri-metric,  460 Ah. 24 volt LiFePo4 battery bank. Plenty of Baja Sea of Cortez sunshine.

Can you get an inverter based a/c unit?

They have almost no surge, and usual run at a much lower continuous current when operating vs the high/off cycling current of a standard compressor.

Overall, it is still a lot of energy from an RV based solar system.

Im thinking of generator sizing not looking to run  on solar. I have a 10000 btu window unit that runs on a open frame 2000 gen. But I would like to no if a 3500 surge 2500 running would work for the rv ac?

I run my travel trailer, including  air conditioner,  on a Honda EU3000i with no problem.

I hear good reports from Champion 2800 owners running their RV air conditioning.

Champion inverter dual fuel here (https://www.championpowerequipment.com/product/100263-3400-watt-dual-fuel-inverter/) and it runs my 15000BTU rooftop just fine.  If I need to charge the batteries with my PD4060 the first bit of bulk charging will pull a good 1000w of power (AC not DC) from the genset, but I have enough headroom from the generator for both simultaneous if needed.  IIRC I have seen 1800w being pulled by the A/C by itself when it was working hard.
