Hello,
I am in the process of purchasing the trimetric 2020 battery monitor . I have a 24v system which will be 4 batteries 12v appx total 400ah. This is a starter set up which i will be adding more batteries in the future. Please advise on which shunt i should get a 100a or 500a. Thanks

    I believe that you will need the 500 amp shunt for a system that size.

    Shunts are sized acording to how much current (amps) you expect to pull thru them. A 48V system that uses less current, can use smaller shunts.

    I would not try to get a shunt to match the peak surge current (motor starting), but would tend to size it to sustained loads.

    Remember that shunts have voltage drop too. To small of one may cause problems with surf currents.
