Permanent magnet spinning past a coil of wire - one of the oldest designs there is!

Lots of DIY wind genny projects use permanent magnets - sometimes replacing rotor coils in alternators and sometimes converting DC motors.

Wires. Magnets. Motion. it's all in wikipedia.

Yep ! And sometimes they make generators from electro-magnets instead of
    permanent magnets.

I'm thinking of the bicycle's dynamo, whether it gives you enough power for your need.
A PMA (Permanent magnet alternator) is just a "giant" version of the bicycle's dynamo.

Inverter-generators also use permanent magnets on the rotor.

    Re: magnet generator

yes a permanent magnet system generator is what im looking for, ive tried googeing and everything with no luck, ive saw where you can get an ebook for the plans on making one but its 49 bucks. im looking for something like this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-MQvzOCNSI, [moderator note: This is a classic over unity / perpetual motion machine. Take with a grain of salt. -Bill B.] where it takes small wattage to run and disperses more wattage to power things. this is pretty much a windmill without the wind isnt it?

    Re: magnet generator

That's a scam. This belongs to the "perpetual machine" class. Found plenty similar on the internet. Energy output needs energy input, can not generate from "nowhere".

    Re: magnet generator

Then again.... If you get a big coil, some ferrous material and an energy source to discharge into the coil, you can actually Generate your own Magnets !!

    Now THAT's a REAL "Magnet Generator" ! :D
