If you feel the base is secure and the panels can be joined safely AND the additional hight won't leverage the lower panel off, its ok with me.  ( What state do you drive in ? )

  It's fine to use an auxiliary charger from a generator. best way is to start the gen in the morning and let the generator BULK the batteries at max fuel efficacy and then let the solar finish it off.

  Seems like there is nothing wrong with the FLA golf cart batteries. Just replace them, and in another 5 years, maybe the Li batteries will be practical.

  Hawker and HUP, along with many other mfg's have flat plate batteries with 10+ year warranty I don't think tubular is worth the price.
