BYPASS DIODES

I have Solarworld sunmodule SW 345 XL panels. I want to have a few backup diodes for the panels. I took the cover off and there is a solid white silicon block inserted in the casing to protect the everything in the panels junction box, so I can't see the numbers on the diodes. Can I go off the panel voltage and current specs to pick the proper diodes for the panels?

Sure, the recommended FUSE size is the minimum Amps spec for the diode. Reverse voltage should be 1.5x your PV Array voltage.

If you have a 60Voc array voltage (the whole array, not 1 panel) the diode should be 90V reverse to insure long live. A 100v diode is great.

If you can get a schottky diode, it has lower Vf drop and will generate less heat. You still have to calculate the wattage & heat sinking needed.
