Jackery Explorer 5000

Anyone with a jackery explorer 5000 here? If so did you construct your own PV array? And what did you do? Seems series with about 400w panels is most suitable. What voltage did you end your string at? Thanks

Nope not me but I have set a few up. As for panels you need panels with enough MPPV to charge the max battery voltage plus some extra V for clouds/loss.  You could use, for example,  A string of (3) 200W panels that have a MPPV of 23 V wired in series. You could use (2) of the 400 watt panels that have a MPPV of 31V in series.  Good Luck !

I have 11 400w axitech panels on series. Each one has has 31 vmp and 39voc and I live in minnesota where it gets negative 30. Although for winter in could take one or two out of the series string easily.

Should i add up vmp or voc?

Jackery takes a max of 450v from the panels

Both... Voc added up for cold weather, and maximum array voltage--That can damage/ruin your solar charge controller (or other solar controller types connected to the array).

Vmp is added up to ensure that the array matches the solar array input voltage for the solar --Both Cold and Hot. Too low or too high of Vmp voltage and the solar controller may not work efficiently.

    Okay good to know thanks

So I am sitting at 418v VOC with this series string of 11 panels. About 39voc each.

I have to call it good there because one more will bring it to about 458voc. The cold in minneosta likely goes past VOC I think is what I read. So 418voc panel array may be dangerous although jackery has informed me the jackery system has a multi layered shut off if voltage passes 450. How true I do not know.

The  coldest recorded temp in Brainerd MN is -54F. (1996) That may have been in town, so I would plan for -60F if the site is out of town in the country.
