Hello all,

I was thinking of making my own solar powered attic fan. If I wanted to run this fan(from a race car - draws 14 amps):
How many watt panel would it take to run that at a decent speed, please? 25, 40 watts?

Thank you in advance!
JK

That fan is not really suited for the intended application, it is designed to move large amounts of air for short durations across a radiator.
The motor is most likely brushed which is not desirable, needing a battery to support it  during times of low panel output, clouds passing as an example, a brushless motor would br a better choice, something like this  (for reference purpose ) https://www.amazon.com/ECO-WORTHY-65-Watt-18-Volt-Efficient-Brushless/dp/B01MQRU3B1

One thing to consider is passive ventilation, I had a house which cooked in the summer, a fan was installed which helped dramatically. After a number of years the motor failed, but there was no noticeable change in temperature inside the house, just having a vent near the roof peak was enough to create airflow which would otherwise be trapped.

Also lots of soffit venting, so ridge vents pull outside air (not conditioned air from living space).
    Off-grid.

You can assemble the same set for less money.  The fans alone are usually less than $20.00. I have a pair of them in my garage powered by a hardwired old 65 watt panel. works great. Has for nearly 5 years now.

2.1 Kw Suntech 175 mono, Classic 200, Trace SW 4024 ( 15 years old  but brand new out of sealed factory box Jan. 2015), Bogart Tri-metric,  460 Ah. 24 volt LiFePo4 battery bank. Plenty of Baja Sea of Cortez sunshine.
