I have two connected in parrallel 180 amp/hr lithium batteries which are fifteen months old and balanced with a battery controller which has room for three batteries.I tried to buy a third battery from the same supplier but was told he doesn't make 180's anymore and he offered me a 160 instead.What would be the outcome if I bought the 160-re problems.

    Practically, not much more than 10% difference... Usually not a big deal.

    What does the battery controller Mfg say? If they balance/control based on cell voltage (and assuming the cells are same construction), then probably no big issues.

    If the battery controller actually measures amps and amp*hours per string, then you might have an issue if the strings are not individually programmable for capacity.

    Assuming each has its own BMS, the BMS would protect each battery from overcharge or discharge. Using conservative levels of capacity, say 20% to 95% the difference between them would likely be negligible, but do confirm with the manufacturer if possible.
    1500W, 6× Schutten 250W Poly panels , Schneider MPPT 60 150 CC, Schneider SW 2524 inverter, 400Ah LFP 24V nominal battery with Battery Bodyguard BMS 
    Second system 1890W  3 × 300W No name brand poly, 3×330 Sunsolar Poly panels, Morningstar TS 60 PWM controller, no name 2000W inverter 400Ah LFP 24V nominal battery with Daly BMS, used for water pumping and day time air conditioning.  
    5Kw Yanmar clone single cylinder air cooled diesel generator for rare emergency charging and welding.
