    No Mike, it's a GT interface, between the inverter and the utility. SW inverters couldn't meet the UL1741 requirements without it (as I was informed by RCA in FLA).

    I found that applying utility power to an SW4048 worked fine until you removed it. The inverter would not drop and invert right away..really messed up freq and voltage for many seconds. Workaround by fooling the SW into thinking that utility power is generator power...shut down ''generator'' and SW drops, goes to invert within 1 cycle. Just remember to shut the utility breaker off or the SW will see power...start charging...and so on.

    I just interrupt the genset control wire with a switch in a utility box screwed to the inverter...labels UTILITY and GENERATOR at appropriate positions for switch. Works great. I've only forgotten to shut off the utility power breaker 2 or 3 times so far. The first time I thought we had lots of wind, the SW kept the batteries floating for 2 days:blush:
