    Things got way out of whack.

    BTW, I think I need to make a correction: I think the electrical crafts still have decent apprenticeships. Maybe some pipe fitters too.

    LOL. Wishing that buggy whips would make a return is futile. In 1900, 40% of Americans worked in agriculture. Today it's about 1%. Progress marches onward. We don't need more machinists, now there's CAD/CAM to do that. The US has a trade deficit for hard goods, but a trade surplus in services, which now make up 70% of the economy.
