Anybody found a way to turn down the definition on Youtube vid's on their TV?

It seems that streaming at 1280 and 4K uses more energy than 720. 720 is sufficient when power is an imminent concern.

Visited settings and found no option for cranking down the definition. An oversight by Youtube in my opinion. 

There may be a way on a computer. But I don't like watching shows on my laptop for a few reasons. 
First Bank:16 180 watt Grape Solar with  FM80 controller and 3648 Inverter....Fullriver 8D AGM solar batteries. Second Bank/MacGyver Special: 10 165(?) watt BP Solar with Renogy MPPT 40A controller/ and Xantrex C-35 PWM controller/ and Morningstar PWM controller...Cotek 24V PSW inverter....forklift and diesel locomotive batteries

    Not my end of the pool,  but I think there is a way. I think  they  turned  them up to 1280/max here   when they realized  they  were  coming in lower. The guru is asleep and I won't see her until late tomorrow, but I'll ask.

    Home system 4000 watt (Evergreen) array standing, with 2 Midnite Classic Lites,  Midnite E-panel, Magnum MS4024, Prosine 1800(now backup) and Exeltech 1100(former backup...lol), 660 ah 24v Forklift battery(now 10 years old). Off grid for 20 years (if I include 8 months on a bicycle).
    - Assorted other systems, pieces and to many panels in the closet to not do more projects.

     On my Roku Box:
    1. Play the video
    2. hit a left or right button and get the video controls.
    3. hit the lift button to the 3 vertical aligned dots.
    4. center button click (OK)
    5. More menu, right click to HD (Quality)
    6. Center/OK click button and I have 240p to 1080p on one random video
    7. And on the right, there is a a "bug" or "hanging stoplight(?). Stats for Nerds and you can see your screen res, data rate, etc.

    Sounds like that needs to be done on each video. I like to watch mostly 5-10 minute vids - that would grow tedious. Best approach though - so far.

    Now that the MSM is largely worthless it is possible that youtube may be amongst the best sources for courageous news. The fact that the Epstein story got brushed aside for an another entirely nonsense Trumpstigation augments that insight. If the FBI found nothing after two years - Congress is going to find the proverbial smoking gun? Highly doubtful. Extremely doubtful.

    Anyway - it seems like turning down the youtub definition to 720p is lasting - for all videos - so far. Youtube may co-operate on a permanent basis as well. After all, it equates to less data for them to serve as well. 

    Which has me considering an ongoing thread about surviving with solar. With user tips being added as they are uncovered. Who had considered turning down the definition on youtube vids?

    Completely uninterested in the political angle, but I habitually turn down video definition to save on bandwidth.
