Powering Aerator Pump

Hello all,

The only power I have on my small fishing boat is the 12V battery that powers my trolling motor. This boat is equipped with an aerator pump that I have never been able to use. The reason is that, as far as I can tell, it only turns on at 13.6V. Since the at rest voltage of the fully charged battery is 12.8V, it can only get worse as I use the trolling motor.

Is there a packaged device like a potentiometer that I could tweek the voltage from 12V nominal to the required 13.6V needed for the pump?

    You could look for an adjustable boost/buck DC-DC converter.  Perhaps "6-35V-to-1-35V-DC-DC-Buck-Boost" on ebay.

    Just be sure the power output (amps) is enough to run the pump.   And you are taking more power from your battery, so your electric range will be less

    Thanks Mike, I figured that would be the case. It should not impact my day on the lake too bad since I would run the pump only to fill the livewell. My intent is to keep the fish relatively cool, not to keep them alive.
