Adaptor for 2 AA battery holder

Hello, I'm new and perhaps this has been answered somewhere else -- any assistance is appreciated.

I am looking for an adaptor (perhaps plastic with metal ends) that snaps into a 2 AA side-by-side battery holder (with batteries removed) with red/black wire leads out. I have built a regulated solar power unit and do not want to solder wires permanently -- just want to be able to pop adaptor in and out for solar energy when I want to.

Thanks!

I think he's looking for an adapter to take the place of the 2 AA batteries and provide a connection to his solar power, but he doesn't want to make it a permanant - hard wired deal so something he can put in to replace the batteries on a temporary basis.

I had no luck finding anything.

When I have done this I just use small wires with alligator clips on the end and clip them on and sometimes you can close the cover. Then run the wires to what ever you want.

Seems it wouldn't be too hard to make something that would fit in there, especially as there is a spring on each end. Put contact on each end just like the batteries have.

I'm not really clear what you want.
The adapter wires can be connected to a voltage source, and that can power the same gadgets the dual AA pack powered.

I'd avoid alligator clips, as they are too easy to short when the pop loose.

I take it you have something powered by a dual AA pack?

easiest way is to wire your new source to a new battery clip (use a meter to get polarity right) and just swap between battery pack and solar .

i'm not aware of anything commercially available as you desribe, but maybe you should try to make something as most things will use a connector of some sort rather than leaving the battery compartment open on your device to allow for this type of connection at the battery input contacts. you could get wooden dowls and cut them down to size and place a flat metal plate (solderable) for the negative contact and a springlike or button like metal contact for the positive end and glue it to the wood dowls and glue both dowls together too. be sure you solder your wire leads to the metal contact points before you glue it to the dowls or the glue could fail and possibly burn/stink too. copper solders the easiest, but you may have to put on your thinking cap as to how to fabricate the contacts and solder the wire to them.

This is close to what I am looking for that someone handmade with a couple dowels for a camera flash unit:

Hoping there was something commercially available, but have been unable to find it.

i'm not personally aware of anything commercial, but who knows there might be one someplace if one searches long and hard enough. that is pretty close to what i had in mind, but i was not thinking screws for electrical contacting, which the screws will work just fine, and i think glue may be better as electrical tape stretches and breaks. hmm, maybe even a small screw or 2 could hold the 2 dowels together.
i assume there isn't any provision on it for external power?
