Wind generator

I am getting ready to install a small grid-tie solar system on my home. 6 or 7 170 watt panels and a PV Powered PVP2000 inverter.

I am intersted in making a DIY windmill generator. More for a hobby unless I can make it productive. I feel I can make a setup for about $100 depending on the motor I get. I am still trying how to figure out what motor is best.

How would I go about hooking the wind generator up to the solar?

At what voltage would the windmill be productive and how much voltage would be too much?

check out www.otherpower.com they are all about do it yourself wind power. i made a 10 ft machine based on there plans and it turned out to be a 1000-1200 watt machine and it produces 200-250 watts in real low winds like 6-7mph

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how are you measuring your output in watts as opposed to amps? Multipying amps by actual battery voltage while charging or reading watts on a charge controller?

i am simply multiplying amps by battery voltage
