Came across this new wind gennie while aimlessly surfing today

    it seems to resemble a darius/savonius combo put onto its side. it would be a low rpm arrangement, but if geared properly i don't see why it couldn't work if i knew off hand what turns it into the wind. ok looking more closely i see the tail fin for aiming it, but output power efficiency will not be high. one good thing about this type of design is a very low wind startup speed.
    my opinion is they should've left it as a vertical wind turbine design. they would not need a vane, or as i termed it before a tail fin, to steer it as vwts don't need to steer into the wind and putting it on its side made it into a hwt and it won't produce any more power as a horizontal wt. in fact it may produce less as a hwt because of reaction times to wind direction changes.
    thumbs down. back to the drawing board.

    My first impression (which could well be wrong), on reading up on it and inspecting the photo, lean toward the word "scam", like no doubt it will produce power, but like whatcha gonna do with half a watt? Or is it 10 watts in a storm?

    i will have to agree with you wayne as the total capture area for the blades is small on top of a lower efficiency.

    Well, it does come with a solar panel, to run it's internals...... Maybe that's where the bulk of the power comes from !

    I have never had any reason to use or extend a "gird" for any of my energy needs. I am a bit skeptical.

    Hahaha, must really be one really powerful turbine if it needs a PV to run it :)

    Seriously guys, what group is this manufacturer aiming for?
    And what will this product do to the credibility of small scale renewable energy in general?
