Gas

I was fortunate to find Non-E regular an hour away earlier in the year. Heading there tomorrow with at least 6 jugs. I'll top off the pickup too. I'm starting the gas wars  ;)  Last trip it was a bit expensive but it doesn't fluctuate like gas pumps at a fuel stop. Sometimes it is really cheap. comparatively.

Ethanol free gasoline is common around here but costs about 80 cents more per gallon.

Obviously regular and premium are different prices. I don't need octane so regular at literally $0.20 over ethanol  was a find. Then it was $0.50 up, then....

But I did a test. I was way low of fuel - the light was on, etc. 2020 F350 with the small V8. I filled the ~34g tank with the non-eth. I had a road trip. Up, down and around, not flat land. I got home and did normal stuff in the canyons. When all was said and done I GAINED mileage per gallon. But it was a complete break even for the price differential for the fuel not having ethanol. The subsidized ethanol. Which we pay for in other ways but y'all dont see that.

There was a time when I received money for not growing corn or beans. Yup, I am a prostitute and took the money to pay the land taxes. This shell game has to end. Commodities, supply and demand have to stand on their own. The Gov does NOT do good work at stabilizing prices and the market. They do a great job at getting votes.

I used to drive a gasoline tanker truck and would load at the terminal using pumps that pumped about 800 gpm.        There was a clear sight glass on the pump hose and you could see whatever fuel you were loading and see the color.      You could also monitor what was loading on the computer screen.

So let's say I'm loading 1000 gallons of regular 10% ethanol gas.     Hook the hose up and hit start.       The computer screen shows 100 gallons of Ethanol being pumped in first.       Through the sight glass the liquid is perfectly clear.
The pump would stop for a few seconds as valves in the pump switched over to the gasoline supply and then it would pump 900 gallons of pure gasoline into the truck tank.       Pure gas has a little yellow tint and you can see it through the sight glass.

Highway diesel and Red non highway diesel is the same process with the red diesel getting about 8 gallons of dye shot in before the tank receives 992 gallons of highway diesel.

I don't get the point. You switch from gas to dyed diesel. Yup, the straight non-eth is yellow tinted. I can smell the difference. I only mentioned that the pure fuel was better for mileage. OTOH, there are vehicles that make 700hp from premium pump ethanol fuel. It's a crazy time. My gosh a lot has gone into our vehicles to make power for the mix. And the sensors. And the DEF for diesel.

But for my small equipment like the genset, saws, ATV, I run real gas, mostly. The road stuff doesn't factor out.

The only non-ethanol available around here is Premium, so it costs me $3.45/gallon instead of $2.30/gallon for E10.
