Submersible back up pump

I have an existing well with a red jacket 220 volt pump in the well already for our home. It is pretty deep, about 250 feet. Got a Grundfos 6 SQF3 pump for a back up. We tend to loose power for days and sometimes weeks at a time when spring storm blows through. Anyone got experience with using a submersible motor like this in an existing well as back up?

When lowering it down, don't let the proton beams cross, or both pumps can become stuck.

Proton beams? I am a bit confused! But I think you are saying they should both go in the same well pipe, right? One will just be shallower (obviously) than the other.
Thanks -
I think Mike is saying that if you have flex pipes (plastic), the pipes can "wrap" around themselves/higher pump in well and get stuck in the well (I guess "twists" could happen with starting torque too)...

Ok, that makes sense. Maybe it was a ghost busters reference!

Yes it was.

yes, it was ghost busters. Getting 2 pumps, power cords, anti-torque blocks, and the big fat water lines, all into one hole, not getting anything tangled up is critical.

Just got some time on the phone with the company who originally drilled and installed the well, motor, pipe, etc. and they are saying we can not put an additional motor, pipe and wiring in the same pipe. Not enough room, won't work, etc.
This becomes frustrating as when we were speaking with solar companies, we were told that yes, that is how you do it. One is hard-wired electric, one is wired to solar. The hard-wired pump is lower in the casing, solar pump is higher in the casing. It makes sense on paper, but I do not want to get in to this project and find out I have just caused a huge mess between motors, pipes etc. in the same casing.
I am starting to wonder if this is simply not a good idea or if people I am speaking with do not have experience doing this. Any suggestions or ideas? -
What size is your well casing ?
4" would only really fit 1 pump, pipe, power cable. If 6" or larger, you might get away with it. just make sure your retrieval line/cable is absolutely good
