Underwater Hydropower System? asking for a Friend

Hello, was looking for information for a friend, they own small cabin in Alaska  - they have small creek running thru there land  5-8ft wide 1-2ftD in spots, doesn't have no head. Looking for hydropower generator that can be conceal underwater and removeable... from our understanding we can't mount nothing in the creek like water wheel. any help would be great.. 

My understanding they have: 
24V System with 4 trojan  
Magnum sine inverter box
Midnite controller

    The only off the shelf similar unit I can think of is a sail boat towed water turbine:

    You probably need pretty good water speed (something on the order of 5-7 knots or 6-8 MPH) to get them turning out useful energy...

    They use to advertise one in Homepower magazine. Can't think of the name of the company, but I know Homepower has their whole article history available online now. You might try checking that out.

    2006 Trace Xantrex power panel, (3) SW5548 inverters- 2 NOS Trace's (1999) and 1 Trace/Xantrex 2006 for back up (came with power panel. et al), Xantrex DC/disconnect, Xantrex AC disconnect/bypass, (3) C40 PWM charge controllers- 2 NOS, one used. (8)Evergreen  Solar 120w (960w),  8k LG Neon 2, (25) 320w, Bergey XL.1 1.5k genny, Air X 400 genny (came with used system), 48v Interstate Workman batts (now frozen/toast), (2) Montana Solar adjustable Top of Pole 12 array racks, (2) Midnite Solar MSPV 4 combiner boxes, (2) Midnite Solar Classic 150's (one an SL), SOK LiFePo stack of 500ah and one nice Ozark hilltop to set them all on.
