I am in a Fifth Wheel Teton camper. We need 240v do to our mini split. Have 21kwh of leaf battery now. Looking at inverters. Soal afterwards. Been looking at the XW units and they look like they will work. Lots use the Victron units but have to run dual or inverter + autotransformer. Need in 6k range so seems good fit. Your thoughts.

The xw is good, And if you get a park with power or a generator, it will utilize the internal transfer switch and charger

Are they very difficult to set up.

If you know the basic rules of electricity and UNDERSTAND Power, Voltage, Amps, Resistance and how they work, you can program the XW gear. You will need a SCP or Gateway to interface to it.
https://solar.schneider-electric.com/product/conext-system-control-panel-scp/
https://solar.schneider-electric.com/product/conext-gateway/
You will need to grasp how to calculate 80% of your generator's output power and enter that as amps @ 240V into the inverter memory.
I can give you examples of how I did it with my gear. Much easier if you have a generator with 240VAC output, if limited to 120vac, you have to reconfigure (cripple) the inverter to be only 120V or use a efficient step up autotransformer to get your 120V generator up to 240V (which I do with a 100# transformer and a honda eu2000)
At least the big XW inverters are efficient when idle.

thank you but no on board generator.

question, dows the combox support Chromebook. Mentions windows and android.
-
Combox is obsolete and on the non support list at Schneider. You want to look at getting the conext gateway and yes it does support android."we go where power lines don't" Sierra Nevada mountain area

I was reading on this forum and saw a lot of problems posted with the Gateway. Have these problems been fixed? Also I am more interested if it supports a Chromebook. I have no windows computers, just android and Chromebook.
-
Oh just reading owners manual. Supports goggle chrome. So Chromebook good.
-
I was looking at the mini panel for it. From pictures it appears to not have a top so the XW has to bolt to it.I only have 37" head room in camper storage. It figures up to 40". I am considering the E-Panel from Midnite. I could mount it it the side.I don't have to have one but I really like the bypass built in them.
-
sucks, it doesn't have a top either.
-
Take a look at the CSW from Schneider. It is smaller and might work with the CSW Power distribution panels. The gateway has had 7 firmware changes released in the last 18 months. Most of the people with problems were firmware related. Sometime firmware is not an easy thing to change.
Also remember that installing a large inverter in a small space is not a good thing. XW and CSW are UL listed but not listed for mobile installation."we go where power lines don't" Sierra Nevada mountain area

True but everybody is doing it with no issuses. Seem as many as 3 large inverters in one from the factory. I can fab a top for the box.
-
I would have to have 2 of those CSW units.
-
can't even find a CSW unit now
-
Think you meant Conext SW. Yes, I would need two of those and that what I trying not ot do.
-
Can the XW be used laying down or sideways? have more room like that.
-
Actually upside down it fits together.
-
Sideways, you loose the thermal chimney arrangement and may only be able to get half power even with it's internal fans.
But I see what you want, you need 240V for the air con. Could a Euro 50hz 230V inverter (non-split phase) run it ?
and then use another inverter for your 120V needs ? ( dang, now 2 inverters again )

It was a sad day when Sanyo was purchased by Panasonic and the 120 VAC mini-spit line was dumped...
Home Depot does list some 115 VAC mini splits.

Actually I have 2 12k mini splits. one is 240 due to having to use a cassette in bedroom. There are no 120v cassettes. Oh I will just not put it together and fab a top for it. Easy done.

I was looking at the specs on the mini panel and the standard panel, Saw no reference to DC shunts. Do they have them.
