Guessing 2005ish? I don't know. I think they are all designated "Energy Star" on the labels?
First Bank:16 180 watt Grape Solar with FM80 controller and 3648 Inverter....Fullriver 8D AGM solar batteries. Actually, appears to go back to 1992.

In 1996, got US Department of Energy--So probably after that date that people started paying more attention and mfg. started doing real design changes. (guessing)
