hello evrybody !
Im doing an intership in a solar energy company in europe and im facing a problem right know.
We have a 11.2 Kw system where we are going to use  40 panels (Peimar 280W) and a ABB 12.5 KW solar inverter.
My question is how many strings and how many panels for each sting should i use?
Trying to seize the system in PVSOL  i find it impossible becouse the PVSOL system told me that the inverter is incompatible.
I'll preciate  you help guys.

Assuming the inverter is a dual mppt high voltage type, and the panels are ~30vmp, my guess would be maybe 2 strings (one on each mppt) for about 20 x 30 = 600v.  Voc would need to be checked to confirm it's under the max at record low temp for the location.

    Are there panel optimizers involved?
    Off-grid.
    Main daytime system ~4kw panels into 2xMNClassic150 370ah 48v bank 2xOutback 3548 inverter 120v + 240v autotransformer
    Night system ~1kw panels into 1xMNClassic150 700ah 12v bank morningstar 300w inverter

If you post the panel specs ( Voc, Vmp, Imp ) and the inverter specs ( Turn on V___  MPPT volt range __ to ___V and Max input Volt___)
it'd be easier for us to divine what might work

Hello evrybody  thank you for your response.
Im posting the panels and inverters specs :
    Panels specs :Voc=37.3V ,Vmp=31.2V,Imp=8.98A
Inverter specs : Vstart =360V ,Absolute max DC input Voltage=900V,(Vdcmin....Vdcmax=250....850V)
Im attaching the datasheet of the products below to be more precise.
Thank u Guys i really appreciate you help :)

18 panels in series is the most I'd run, unless you are in a place it gets really cold, then 16 or 17 in series,
12 panels in series is the minimum you can use,

having 20 panels in series would look nice on paper, but a cool morning stands a good chance of taking your inverter out from high voltage.   20 x 37.3  =  746v at 45C
