Still not much to go on, 8 batteries in series? assuming 6V for 48V nominal, running into a mpp inverter? Take the time to explain what the system consists of, in detail, without which its extremely difficult to even begin, kind of like going to the doctor and saying I'm sick, the doctor will begin by asking questions.

And what you do mean by saying it only charges 1/2 your battery bank? You have two parallel strings of batteries? Or are you saying the system only charges your batteries to 50% state of charge?

Please feel free to use as many words as you need. We are not pressed for space like you would be in a text message. Right now, the forum is configured for a 15,000 character limit (around 3,000 words or 1.5 pages of typing).

you probably did not hook it up right, or one bank (if parallel) is corded. Make sure your charge controller hooks to one side of each parallel bank positive and the complete opposite side (farthest from positive) negative of each parallel bank string. Make sure to use "battery anti corrosive " on all connections and that the cables are all the same gauge and length. Ohms law dictates the path of least resistance is critical to equal charging.

These continual references to YouTube and eBay as well as bad advise is going to get you a timeout.
