Planning a small (800-1200 watts) Grid-Tied solar installation but having trouble finding a suitable inverter.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Consider Enphase micro-inverters.  About $50 on ebay (new).

I am available for custom hardware/firmware development

Good look getting an enphase inverter replaced when it fails.  a 25 year warranty aint worth shit if they won't honor it.
Enphase won't even talk to consumers, they insist that replacements have to be done by a "Professional Installer" however, they don't pay the installers to replace inverters anymore so none of them want to do it anymore.
I've had a 70% failure rate in 8 years with my enphase inverters. It took me 9 months to get one replace last year when it failed.  I've got two more that failed 3 months ago and I've been calling my installer, and every other one within a 100 miles, and none of them will even return my calls.
Hell I'd be willing to swap inverters, all they have to do is order them for me.
