Widening the XW and XW+ HBCO and charge voltage for Ni Fe batteries

You can upgrade the legacy XW6048 to XW+6848 firmware and have all the latest functions and features.

Just rename the file and the Combox will allow the upgrade (i.e. change 865-6848-01 to 865-1000)

You can then set HBCO to 70V to prevent nuisance tripping.

The latest firmware for MPPT80-600

mppt-80-600-firmware-v1-02-bn0003

increases the trip level to 68.2V (Warning) and 69.3 (Fault) respectively.

I have not tested this and Combox should be latest firmware before you try this.

I would do that in a heartbeat, to accommodate my winter time generator charging, IF I knew the electrolytic caps can take that voltage.

If it were me, I would get a spare or do just about anything to avoid listening to a generator run any longer than absolutely required.
I have a client in the desert of Arizona that has been running an XW since 2006 in a hot metal shed. They are built for it if you clean the filter and keep the fan running. Not to hard to do  :)
