Generator charging hits float in 15min

Ok I have the magnum rd2824 and a magnum arc. I have a ryobi 2200 watt. I'm at 10200' so I lose 35 % power on the gen I have a.c. amps set at 7 . The temp sensor reads 4ºc different from xw 60-150 I have the custom battery setting on. Float is 27.8 asorb is 29.8 eq is set to 29.8 time is 0.1 hour float charging reads 35+amps

    Switched to 8 amps. And holding 36 amps 27.9v float charging

    JS are you stating that the battery is taking 1004.4 W of power (36A * 27.9V) in FLOAT?  If so something is wrong... float should be  at a fixed voltage and very low amps.

    Yes that's what I'm saying. The RD 2824 inverter charger kicks in to float very quick with a 5 amp 24 v load on the system.could it be the software in the arc and the inverter?

    I know zip about your RD 2824 Inver/Charger....  have you  tried Magnum support?  My suspicion is , obviously the settings.... that setting the AC Amps  to control the DC Amps is ???? to me...

    Just got off with magnum. They said the resting volts is to high so when the charge starts the batterys go up in volts quick. So With low internal resistance the battery volts climb quickly so the charger goes to float and tries to hold voltage with amps. They said it's common and to try to start the gen at a lower voltage.they said if it were FLA it would not do that.

    I can set in a.c. amps so the charger olny pulls 8 amps from the gen.

    JS, so the charging was done on a resting battery at 24.4... I would have expected the quick rise in A if the battery was around 25 - 26V ie fully charged and resting but the Amps should drop wen it goes out of Absorb and into Float.

    What are the preloaded charge profiles?

    It's is pre loaded but I had to buy the controller to switch the charge profile  it was set for a 600amp to a from the factory

    I could change it from a multi stage charge to a constant current, constant voltage

    From what I've read its a common problem and when I called magnum tech support they confirmed it. I'm going to switch to outback soon. I think their charger has a little better software and you can use gen support.
