I doubt you guys in the US and Mexico will have seen that there is a different system used to evaluate the energy consumption for appliances in Canada...VS n the US...
How did I find out? I looked at the back of the YELLOW tag inside and saw a much lower number for the yearly consumption..
Check it out Canucks...
15.3 cu.ft. GE top freezer 319 kWh / yr in Canada... 358kWh in US...~ 0.11kWh / day.... just because we get lower average daily temps...

Nice find, I bet you could extrapolate which fridges have more insulation, depending on the greater differences in % of kwh use.Home system 4000 watt (Evergreen) array standing, with 2 Midnite Classic Lites, Midnite E-panel, Magnum MS4024, Prosine 1800(now backup) and Exeltech 1100(former backup...lol), 660 ah 24v Forklift battery(now 10 years old). Off grid for 20 years (if I include 8 months on a bicycle).
- Assorted other systems, pieces and to many panels in the closet to not do more projects. -
Forgot to include that I found it at good old SEARS for $880 + tax.. Next week we get to stress test that inverter an see if it can do what it claims!
Whit, that is a good idea, our Agency store carries a good xsection of makes and models. Almost had to get a Sears model till I found this one, SWMBO fell in love with the tray sizing and the number of them in the door...

It looks to me that some of last years models that are still being made had their US KWH's increase. Did you look at the 18 to 22 size range? They really do not use that much more once you can afford the power of 300 KWH per year."we go where power lines don't" Sierra Nevada mountain area

Hi Dave, we are also limited by space, width and depth, particularly depth. The ones we sis see were, from memory, about 100kWh yr more. But that may just have been what was on the floor last Friday, and had ice makers &/of cold water dispensers...

Stay away from through the door water and ice dispensers if you want to cut power use.Northern NM, 624 watts PV, The Kid CC, GC-2 batteries @ 24 VDC, Outback VFX3524M

that was one of, if not the first factor of rejection

I thought you were building a new house? Should a new house not have dimensions for standard appliances?"we go where power lines don't" Sierra Nevada mountain area

Yup, but there is a wood cookstove and a staircase which are sort of immovable objects. There was abit of a screw up by the architect on the staircase size that we did not pick up on .(but the carpenter did!)...the stairwell dimensions were referenced to the outside of the building and the fix took ~1 foot away from the kitchen dimensions...

There are some tricks a good cabinet maker can do if you are not at that stage yet.
There is also a sort of greenhouse window (without the window) if the wall is an outside wall. You can "bump the wall out" later I suppose.
I lived with 15 cu ft foot for quite some time, but the 18 to 22 range makes the long trips to town much less frequent and worth the energy.
Most cabinets are 25" out from walls and should fit a 33" wide frige between. A 32" depth frige will stick out 7 inches into the room and does not look bad at all. The frige probably has the coil access in the front underneath and so you do not need any clearance behind or on the sides.
Add one of those 24V Stecca freezers and you barely be able to measure the energy they use. It will be great to have it done, really great!"we go where power lines don't" Sierra Nevada mountain area
