Please post all the common Terms, definitions and Formulas a newbie should know e.g

Calculating Load in WH
Power rating (watts) * Number of hours the appliance is used (hours) = WH

Battery Bank calculation

Wh * 1/Battery voltage * Number of days of storage * 1/maximum discharge = Ah @ Battery Voltage

Array required for Charging a certain battery bank

Ah * Charging Voltage * 1/0.77 panel+controller derating * % rate of charge (in fraction) = Watts, array size


Definitions e.g
Array: ??

Terms e.g
Panel wattage rating, how it is calculated etc.

    Thank you for putting up some of the standard formulas... Hopefully that will help some people researching solar.

    I quit expanding it because no one ever reads the reference material.

    @BB you are welcome. Please do point out any mistakes which I might have made.

    @moderators Please merge the the two threads. and move it to Solar Beginners Corner (most viewed section of the forums) and sticky it.

    Some terms need to be added to that glossary e.g Diversion Load and Opportunity Load
