    funny that they would ask for this when they can't even fix the grid up, which is basically allot of wire and transformers. how about a better battery for solar challenge or better ways to implement solar without big brother and mother utility making it so difficult? mr wiles schemes at new rules it seems more than most other aspects of the electrical field. making more rules isn't a necessity mr wiles.

    Less expensive is always nice, but who cares about smaller?

    Batteries or other forms of storage are the real challenge.

    Didn't sound very well thought out. Of course, there is probably more info to come on it. First of all, $1E06 is a pretty small amount for Google.

    Would be nice if

    1) The goal was less concrete and something like "product that produces more awareness and use of solar energy" / "product that reduces cost and threshold for entry into solar energy while providing more accessibility to the technology"
    2) Award was to be split among multiple inventions for perhaps multiple categories with some slots for high school or younger participants.
