    You should know that this degradation doesn't actually happen. It was once thought to and expected, but it turns out the panel deterioration over twenty years isn't even measurable. Hurrah for better panels!

    Are there references to technical papers that you have for the actual degradation rates? When I do a quick literature search, I see this recent paper by the folks at NREL (http://www.nrel.gov/docs/fy12osti/51664.pdf) that states that the average median degradation rate based on over 2000 measurements was about 0.5% per year. This survey was for tests conducted over the last 40 years, so perhaps things are now better, but I would be interested in looking at the references for lower degradation rates for newer panels.
