48V to 12V converter?

Do they make a converter to go from 48v to 12v? I have seen 12 to 24 and 24 to 12. The reason I ask is if I'm running a 48v bank but I still want to run some 12v gear I'd rather not run from my inverter through another inverter to get back to 12.
TIA

Re: 48V to 12V converter?
May be "overkill"--but MPPT Solar Charge Controllers can be used to down convert from 48 to 12 volt battery banks...
A nice one would be the MorningStar 15 amp MPPT solar charge controller.
Solar Converters also has various units that include 48v to 12v converters (their website seems to have broken links--not sure what is going on).

I have an Astron model 4812 that does just what you want. The continuous amps out is only 9 amps, so it's not for running a 12 volt fridge, just light loads.\\

The Telcom industry uses 48v a lot, and electronics houses have lots of 48-12 DC-Dc convertrers, some are very efficient, some are not.Powerfab top of pole PV mount | Listeroid 6/1 w/st5 gen head | XW6048 inverter/chgr | Iota 48V/15A charger | Morningstar 60A MPPT | 48V, 800A NiFe Battery (in series)| 15, Evergreen 205w "12V" PV array on pole | Midnight ePanel | Grundfos 10 SO5-9 with 3 wire Franklin Electric motor (1/2hp 240V 1ph ) on a timer for 3 hr noontime run - Runs off PV ||

And, you can find a lot of smaller converters at Digikey.com and such too...
Are you planning on using a 12 volt battery or just need a down converter (no 12 volt local battery).
If you use a 12 volt battery for local power--I would choose something that is really a charge controller (with Float setting and temperature compensation).
