Nice meter you have there... It will go to 600 VDC but only 10 Amps AC/DC...

If you want to use this meter to measure larger currents, you would need to get a shunt resistor and measure the voltage drop (there are different sizes):

For the one above, 0.0 mV = 0 amps, and 100.0 mV (0.100 volts) equals 100 amps...

Or, look into a getting a DC clamp current meter (starting around $60 each for one that will do basic DC/AC measurements up to 400 amps).
