Hypothetical question

Hi all

My question is in regards to measuring the voltage at a battery bank.

If you have a bank of 4 batteries, will they act as a single entity when it comes to measurement?

How do you measure the volt, i thought by putting a meter on the last battery terminals would give an overall voltage for the whole 4?

Any ideas on this would be great.

Are your batteries wired in series or parrallel?
You can measure voltage of any single battery at it's own + and - terminals,
or,
at the + and - ends of a series wired set.

If batteries are wired in parrallel, measuring at the + and - will give you the entire bank voltage.
