Magnum 48 volt inverter question?

Here is a question...Magnum spec say that the working voltage of the 48 vdc https://www.magnum-dimensions.com/sites/default/files/manuals/spec/MS-series_datasheet_64-0200-RevN_web_3.pdf inverter will accept 36-67 vdc.  would it be possible to run this inverter on a 42 volt battery bank?  The reason I ask is, I am designing a system, and depending on the number of panels etc, I begin to be in an under current charge current depending on the bank size.  

For a number of reasons, I think I am going to go with T-105s rather than L16s since this system is going to be used by amateurs without trained supervision, so I would rather factor in shorter battery life with cheaper bank.  To get to 48 volts means either 8 or 16 batteries.  It probably isn’t a good Idea, but I’m curious.  I can configure the CC to any voltage I want.

    Yes, it "should" work.  But being the oddball voltage, it's going to confuse the heck out of people !

    as I said, it was more a curiosity.  Unless there is some real reason I can’t run put to 48 vdc that is what I will do.  Too bad in some ways that nobody deals with 36 vdc on a regular basis.

    I think you are going to give yourself and others, a  lot of grief with a 36V system. 

     Seriously, if you can't afford another battery, you really should not be getting into solar.   Not as expensive as a boat, but more trouble than a 3 cyl motorcycle.

    Not that I suggest that as a solution unless there is a very good reason...

    One benefit you might get would be if you prematurely lose a battery, (6 volt), your system will still be able to run till you get a replacement battery.

    2.1 Kw Suntech 175 mono, Classic 200, Trace SW 4024 ( 15 years old  but brand new out of sealed factory box Jan. 2015), Bogart Tri-metric,  460 Ah. 24 volt LiFePo4 battery bank. Plenty of Baja Sea of Cortez sunshine.

    I am with Mike! I do not get it. Saving on an $85 battery?  We design for the energy required on a regular basis. If you think "they" are going to not play by the rules, then you have to monitor it somehow. I have about 5 of these and most are easy to peak at. Some I have to call on a landline or cell. Usually only in winter.

     It all gets added up next week and goes to the accountant.
