Bought this Frigidaire Commercial upright 18 cu.ft.  freezer used. In the past it simply kept snack foods cool - for storage and longevity.

Pressed it into service as a freezer over 48 hours ago. Of course it consumed mondo energy the first day as it froze all of the interior contents.

Have finally found the setting that keeps it at 0F. Unsatisfied with its power consumption. The door was only briefly opened a couple times to check temperature.

Is there reason to believe that energy consumption will go down after this initial "break in" period? I mostly doubt that much will change. The building temperature is not an adverse factor - it is ~65F.

Thinking yet another chest freezer is in the pipeline. I have not measured their energy consumption but it seems much lower than 2.1 kWh/day.

Do people ever get rid of perfectly functioning and efficient fridges and freezers? Perhaps - not too often?
