Pleasantly surprised the other day when I took my 8 batteries from my battery bank to the recycler and was paid 34 cents a pound for them.  $274 dollars back, Yesss!

2.1 Kw Suntech 175 mono, Classic 200, Trace SW 4024 ( 15 years old  but brand new out of sealed factory box Jan. 2015), Bogart Tri-metric,  460 Ah. 24 volt LiFePo4 battery bank. Plenty of Baja Sea of Cortez sunshine.

    Last month recycled 2400 pounds of Surrette lead and got 30 cents per pound.  Glad to get paid instead of paying to have it hauled away.
    Required help to remove from bsement, borrowed a car float to move them 25 miles or so.

    Seems like a global price, 309 puunds of wet batteries got me $102, in Thailand from the recycling depot, the rag and bone man who comes around every three months or so to buy scrap offered half that, guess he has to make a living, or is he putting himself out of business? 
    1500W, 6× Schutten 250W Poly panels , Schneider MPPT 60 150 CC, Schneider SW 2524 inverter, 400Ah LFP 24V nominal battery with Battery Bodyguard BMS 
    Second system 1890W  3 × 300W No name brand poly, 3×330 Sunsolar Poly panels, Morningstar TS 60 PWM controller, no name 2000W inverter 400Ah LFP 24V nominal battery with Daly BMS, used for water pumping and day time air conditioning.  
    5Kw Yanmar clone single cylinder air cooled diesel generator for rare emergency charging and welding.

    He's got to make a living. He's providing a service by hauling them to the recycler for you.

    I'd happily pay a rag guy $50 to take them when the time comes.  Instead, I'll have to rent a barge, truck, and maybe some muscle.  Living remote has it's advantages, but logistics isn't one of them :neutral:
