    Batteries being charged, or discharged, give inaccurate state of charge readings via Volt meter. To use a voltmeter reliably, the bank needs to sit idle for several hours, only then it is possible to use voltage as an indicator of SoC. Living with batteries, often the best time is to check the voltage first thing in the AM, before any lights, appliances or other loads get turned on. There will be some error if you have a fridge that was running an hour ago, but it's the best likely time to read the voltage
