what voltage panel do I have ??

I bought some used solar panel. The guy said they were 48 volt. How do I know what I have by looking at the back of the panels ?? thanks

The back of the panel should have a label with the manufacturers name and model number with panel specs on it. If that is not the case, then you will have to measure the output voltage of the panel in direct sun with a meter. If you don't have a meter you can get a rough idea by the number of cells that make up the panel. Usually,12 volt panels should have 36 cells, 20 volt (grid tie) panels 60 cells and 24 volt has 72 cells, but there are exceptions to this. I have never heard of 48 volt panels. I would not use the panels in any application until I measured the volts and amps output of the panel and know what I am dealing with.
