    I don't know but the general board consensus is the flooded lead acid is still the way to do. A golf cart battery would be $85 with those specs at Sams or Costco. Shipping batteries is also sky high.

    AGMs may have lower shipping costs--They are not generally "hazardous cargo" (as I recall).

    Now that diesel is selling for less than gasoline, shipping costs should have been lowered by a lot. As we all know...it takes a day to adjust prices up. Months to adjust them down.

    They have got better! They use to be twice the price, 1/2 the capacity, 1/2 the warranty. Now they are about the same capacity as flooded. The real drawback for most people who live offgrid successfully for many years is there is not a way to measure specific gravity.

    Even some of my clients only measure one cell ! Doing this lets them calibrate when they go to float. They then test the SG rarely and then very, very rarely there is a problem. Most of the ones I know always get close to 10 years on flooded. A preventative EQ 4 times a year for an hour and knowing that float starts when you really are at 1.270 will give a very decent battery life. Doing more just makes it better! I always oversize PVtracking and battery.
