generator charging

do I have to install anything between batterys and charge controller if I use gen and 45 amp charger on cloudy days. thanks from a newby

    I guess I need a little more information... If you have a 45 amp charger then you would need a:
    • 45 amps * 1.25 NEC derating = 56.25 amps ~ 60 amp breaker (or fuse) and rated wiring minimum.
    Is there something else you are asking about?

    Nope, I just hook the battery charger to the batteries. If the sun comes out while charging, you may hit the batteries with a pretty large charge, I can hear my genset unload as the solar kicks in and i just go and shut it down.
