Batteries in short term storage question.

So. I have been embezzling batteries from my business. So far I have 4 batteries on my living room floor. The shed is not secure, and I have a problem with thieves. I expect to get 4 more next week. I am not ready to put them into service just yet. Should I charge them all up say once a month until I am ready to use them. The I could series two each and use my 12 volt charger. I have only had them for a little shy of a month. The batteries are Interstate 232 ah 6 volt golf cart units.

    Yep--A very good idea.

If the once a month becomes a pain, you can setup an AC charger on a lamp timer and set it to turn on ~1 hour per day (or however long works best for you) and not have to worry about plugging the charger in once per month.

You should probably also get a hydrometer and check/log the specific gravity... They may need some charging to bring them up >90% SOC and/or some equalization.

I'm the sole stock holder, and yet I do feel kind of guilty.

So you are diverting business assets to personal use... therefore you are underpaying your income tax. If I were doing that I certainly wouldn't mention that on a public forum.

I'm not worried. When business is lean I wind up diverting a lot of personal assets to business. It always has to balance. I have a healthy respect for the IRS and the Tennessee Department of Revenue. Or maybe thats fear.

FYI, verdigo's diversion of business (sole proprietorship) assets to personal use is allowable. It is considered a "draw", and has to be recorded as such at its cost value. This would balance against any personal monies he transfers to the company to keep it going or would be considered as part payment due him for salary cetera.

Yes, I asked the accountant. :D

Of course your particular situation may be different as even though accounting principles are the same everywhere the details are not.

Yep, in the US, we found out our political affiliations also affects your taxes too.

And we are waiting for the NSA (No Such Agency) to finish up their software suite--We won't have to ever fill out another government form with their "Total Information Awareness subject administration system" or TIA-SAS.

I might be considering an additional business selling battery backup power systems. Its starting to sound like a R&D write off now that I think about it. How about that. I wonder if there is a market for small solar systems for RVs in my area? Might be worth giving it some thought.

I am not sure if this will help you with deciding to do the "RV Installation" or make you run away:

But HandyBog has been a very good source of information for RV and solar installations.

    Verdigo,
I apologize if this is a bit off topic but may I ask where in TN your located? I'm in Maynardville TN and have been looking for a local shop to purchase one or two batteries for my build. Here is a link to it in case you are wondering.

My shop is in Clarksville so not local by a stretch. I would be happy to help you but it wouldn't be worth the gas.
