For New Readers and non-electrical folks--Jargon, Math, and General Confusion Questions

On occasion we have folks (new and folks that do not have a PhD in physics or electrical engineering), that get bogged down in the details of some of the discussions here and either have never signed up or are concerned about taking a thread off track to backup up and ask some clarifying details.

So--Here is your engraved invitation to ask in this thread (or even start a new thread in the Beginners Corner if you have a series of related questions) about anything related to jargon and/or math/details of who/what/why/where/why/how that have always bothered you but were "afraid" to ask.

We do have some stickies, FAQs, and such--Such as the Glossary thread. And there are many others such as in this forum:

I will not post all of the FAQ and stickies here--to keep this first post uncluttered.

Everyone please feel free to drop by and ask any questions and we will be happy to take a shot at answering them.

For readers that have not yet registered, please do. We do not spam or release email addresses, or any personal information. We have all been there--Working on projects/starting in a field where we have zero experience or information. You do have to be registered (and click on the email conformation link) to be able to post).

And--A hint for doing searches on the forum... Google works really well at finding information here too with natural language searches. Besides the usual "-" (minus sign) used to remove a search result and "+" plus sign to ensure a word is in a search result (solar -battery +wire +array for example), there is the "site:" tag. You add it to the end of your searches:

panels -copper +aluminum +wire +array site:wind-sun.com

    Actually, beginning and middle are just fine too. Just not inside quotes. :-)
    If you paste it into the beginning of your search instead of the end, it is marginally easier to edit your search terms or start new searches.
