News RSS Feed

Some time ago, when the News RSS Feed was added, I thought there was an intro post about it, stating it may get voted on it's usefullness or something. I can't find that post, but I wanted to vote anyway.

I don't like it. It clogs my view of "New Posts since last visit" with one or 2 line teasers, that reflect perfectly the subject line, and includes a link "See entire story" What a pain to have to click 2x, to get to the real story. But aside from 2 clicks, it's just mostly ads for something that's not too interesting to me.

Or is there a way to not include the "Solar Energy News RSS Feed" in my listing of new posts?

    Here, here!
I'm in the same boat. I think i've looked at less than 10 "news stories" in the past year...but have developed a repetative stress injury on my right index finger, click, click, click.:p

    Otherwise, really appreciate the forum.

Just replace it with a link to http://www.renewableenergyaccess.com

Thats where every single article is anyways ...

    Re: News RSS Feed

I have considered removing the RSS feed, but at this time have no plans to.

While a lot of the stories are basically "advertising press releases", enough good information (or really bad and wrong information) comes across to keep it.

I am looking at better ways to filter out some of the total junk, but RSS feeds are pretty much "take what you get" things.

Dang !!!!!! I thought it was gone.

Anyway you can have the system not count the RSS feed as a new post, so it's easier to ingore ?

No such luck - it came back.

Trying to figure a way to make it not show up as new, but not sure I can.

Can you post these as other than your Admin account? I can filter out new posts if they are not Administrators.

Hmmm not sure, will check on that. I see that I can add negative filter words so that would at least get rid of some of the trash advertising "press releases".

I have put in some filters so that only posts mentioning the major manufacturers show up, so that should get rid of most of the fluff press release type stuff.

If still getting too much will just get rid of it.
