Just the alternator, or the entire powerhead ? new blades are the easy part, if it's really the old original style, I'd grab it. Where did you say it is ??

The old ones, are way before PMA's - 40's I think, speed governed by vari-pitch prop, complex. but effective.

The old Jacobs are classics and one of the best turbines made in the 1930s & 1940s.

Here is a bit of historical reference from their website: http://www.jacobswind.net/history/original-company

I'd love to have one of their freezers. Holding a temperature for days without power is something I haven't seen any modern off the grid refrigeration systems do.

The original Jacobs were direct drive DC generators, not alternators, and are worth restoring. The later ones used a gearbox driven alternator, and if gotten cheap can be worthwhile also, as the same later style machine is still available new.

My old 1940s vintage Jacobs (2500 watt, 32 volt) has been working for us since 1977 or so.
