Loss in a transformer winding?

Has anyone measured the loss in a generic 1-to-2 transformer winding (any size)? I know some use a 120-to-240 transformer to handle a specific load when all other loads are 120 volts, and I may have this need in the future. I'm trying to figure out how efficient they are. For some reason up to 10% loss sticks in my head.
4.5 kw APC UPS powered by a Prius, 12 kw Generac, Honda EU3000is

    From 90% to 98% typical with grid AC power devices, with Toroidal Transformers on the top end of the scale in price and efficiency.

    Any reasonable transformer used for power transformation should be in the 98% range. This does not include your average 'wall wart' transformer that can throw away a couple of watts unloaded.

    Efficiency does drop off at very low (<2%) rating loading where the primary magnetizing core losses dominate.

    Losses are VA based, not true power watts.
