There is no "fix" unless you want to engineer a Current Source DC-DC down converter. It would be less expensive to just get the right charge controller or drop a panel off the array.1 · -

You can, but you won't like what happens. The batteries will become unbalanced and if any of the gear is grounded, you could short out 48V+ to the 96V+ Boom !1 · -
