Is this even possable, charge several 6 volt batterys, wired parallel, using wind power.
invert it to AC and use some kind of AC charger to charge 48 volt sys. Im guessing a car charger wouldnt do it?

Certainly do-able... Question really is--Is it practical.

To charge a battery bank you have the controller and battery bank efficiencies... And you have the boost controller's efficiencies, and the 48 volt battery bank losses too. Chaining possible losses from turbine to AC outlet--using completely made up numbers:
    • 0.9 turbine controller * 0.8 6v bank * 0.85 48volt converter * 0.8 48v bank * 0.85 AC inverter = 0.42 overall efficiency
Any time you have lots of energy conversions involved--double check and see if it really makes sense.

That is what the SMA WindyBoy, Outback, and Midnite Solar people are doing... Taking the output from an appropriate turbine and MPPT it (find the Pmax=Imp*Vmp).

Why do you even want to do it? You have 6V wind turbine? More efficient way would be to use 6V to 48V DC-DC converter modified for battery charging. Or use a whole bunch of battery switches to reconfigure eight 6V batteries from parallel to series. Or try to re-wind your wind generator for 48V operation.
